Expo 2020 Dubai: Morocco Launches Its Investment and Export Brand of “Morocco Now”

KOPI, Dubai – Morocco officially launched, on the occasion of its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, its investment and export brand of “Morocco Now”, to offer investors a new “low-carbon and competitive” investment platform.

Speaking on this occasion, Youssef El Bari, Director General of AMDIE, affirmed that “Morocco has stability and a modern vision. This stability finds its origin in a Kingdom which has built a strong national unity and solid institutions around numerous partnerships. A long-term vision under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, which makes it possible to launch large-scale projects with consistency and sustainability ”.

Over the past 20 years, he continued, Morocco has equipped itself with first-rate trade and transport infrastructure and has, in this way, definitely entered the path of industrial take-off.

As proof of this, he sees “a series of promising projects with very high added value which are to date national pride and which shine internationally, including Tanger Med, the first maritime connection in Africa and on the Mediterranean and the 20th in the world ”.

For his part, Imad Barakat, Chairman of the Management Board of SMIT, considered that “Morocco Now is the future-proof industrial platform to seize the opportunities of a changing world. It is based on a successful experience of economic transformation making Morocco a reliable destination with high investment and export potential ”.

In fact, the various speakers were unanimous in emphasizing that Morocco Now highlights four distinctive assets, namely the “sustainable NOW” via visionary investments, particularly in renewable energies which represent 37% of the energy mix in 2020, with an objective of targeting 52% by 2030 with an installed capacity of 4GW in 2021.

It is also a question of “NOW, a guarantee of success”, through a successful record in terms of the implementation of foreign investments in highly strategic and technical sectors of global industry, and the realization of mega infrastructure projects, by focusing on increasing the skills of its youth, but also “NOW agile”, with a remarkable ability to adapt in the management of the covid crisis through the rapid reallocation of industrial tools to health equipment or even effective deployment immunization, paving the way for a rapid recovery.
